Every great
philosophy or
discipline springs
forth from the
inspiration of an
extraordinary
teacher, such as
Joseph H. Pilates,
who disseminated the
work to an elite
group of followers.
These individuals,
in time, matured to
become highly
skilled teachers in
their own right,
embodying the
training and spirit
of the Teacher, but
also furthering the
work through their
own experience and
intuitive gifts.
The current MPB
program is primarily
devoted to the
Basic, Intermediate,
Advanced, and Super
Advanced exercises
influenced by the
Romana approach to
the Pilates method,
as well as, covering
distinctions of
other Pilates
styles, anatomy,
protocols, posture
assessments,
auxiliary equipment,
and creating
programs. Master
teacher, Jillian
Hessel, will be
MPB's guest for 1 of
our weekend
workshops. Also, an
anatomy lecture as
it applies to the
Pilates exercises
will be given by a
physical therapist
trained in Pilates.
There will be 1
mandatory lab and 1
practical exam prior
to each workshop.
Approximately 20
hours of practice on
self and others and
20 hours of
oberservation are to
be logged in the
studio before each
weekend workshop.
And finally, after
all hours are
completed, students
must pass a written
exam with a grade of
B or higher.
